Xilisoft iPod Video Converter is a video/audio converter for the iPod. As the name suggests, with this little tool, anyone can convert video and audio so that it can be played on the picky iPod. The iPod is the most powerful audio (and recently video) player that exists. However, by default, the iPod will only play files that are purchased via the iTunes store. With Xilisoft iPod Video Converter, any file (provided that the file is supported) can be converted into a format that the iPod will play. This application boasts support for most video formats out there (AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, RM, RMVB, DivX, ASF, VOB, 3GP) and also for audio formats (WAV, WMA, MP2, AC3, RA, OGG, CDA, APE to iPod MP3, M4A, AAC). So with the help of the application, one could, for example pick up that .AVI movie that you couldn't just yet play, drag it into the convert field, select the output, and, voila. The program gives you a file that you can add to iTunes and then move onto your iPod and play it. Just a word of caution, the resulting files tend to lose a lot of quality both in terms of audio and video, and the conversion process takes a bit too long, so do not expect any HD content to play on your iPod any time soon. |
